El pasado Lunes 23/10/23, Sid Ryan (Bass and Vocals), Jack Chatfield (Guitar and Vocals) y Jacob “Stix” Hull (Drums) nos hicieron vibrar y disfrutar de lo lindo a todos los que acudimos a la Sala Deskomunal del barrio de Sants en Barcelona.
Por un momento, me vi totalmente inmerso en el ambiente de un típico Pub Inglés de su ciudad natal Ryde de la Isla de Wight.
La banda inglesa de estos tres jóvenes amigos, no tienen más de 24 años, nos hizo pasar una noche de lo más emocionante y entretenida. Sus poderosas melodías punk de la vieja escuela sonaron entre el calor de una audiencia entregada, en la íntima y acogedora Sala Deskomunal. Se me ponen los pelos de punta solo con recordarlo.
Con 3 álbumes publicados, los dos últimos ya con el sello Hellcat Records de mi admirado Tim “Timebomb” Armstrong, (Líder de la banda Punk americana Rancid), han demostrado que son una banda muy a tener en cuenta por juventud (empezaron con 14 años), sus letras cercanas y su sonido punk inglés clásico. Tengo que añadir que suenan espectacular en directo.
Su último álbum (homónimo), es una auténtica delicia para los oídos, una maravilla para escuchar en bucle.
En el directo, la banda no dejó pasar la oportunidad de tocar temas tales como “Pubwatch” y “Falling Bridges” del primer álbum “Break the Routine”, “Gravetard Island”, “Tired of it” y “Murder Town” del álbum “Graveyard Island” y como no temas del último que se publicó este 2023 “Celine”, “Brassic” y “Under the Streetlight” canción con la que acabaron la fantástica velada cortando la respiración y enloqueciendo al público que estaba presente en la sala. Casi me rompo la cabeza por inmortalizar dicho momento, qué pasada!
Un momento muy especial para mí fue cuando tocaron “Only Ones I Trust”, canción descartada del Graveyard Island, ya que me trasladó a mi infancia cuando sonaba Rancid a todas horas en mi habitación.
Os aseguro que tienen cuerda para rato, en Madrid la liaron bien gorda también, como era de esperar, al igual que harán en el País Vasco.
Yo ya cuento los días para verlos de nuevo y espero que no pasen otros 5 años para que vuelvan. En Barcelona seréis siempre bienvenidos, aquí os esperamos con los brazos abiertos.
ENGLISH VERSION
Last Monday, 23/10/23, Sid Ryan (Bass and Vocals), Jack Chatfield (Guitar and Vocals) and Jacob “Stix” Hull (Drums) made all of us who came to the Sala Deskomunal in the Sants neighborhood in Barcelona vibrate and enjoy a great time.
For a moment, I found myself totally immersed in the atmosphere of a typical English Pub as if I was in their hometown of Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
The English band of three young friends, none older than 24 years old, made for an exciting and entertaining night.
Hearing their powerful old-school punk melodies among a warm and dedicated audience, in the intimate and cozy Sala Deskomunal, makes my hair stand on end just remembering it.
With 3 albums published to date, the last two already with the Hellcat Records label of my beloved Tim “Timebomb” Armstrong, (leader of the American punk band Rancid), they have shown that they are a band to be reckoned with due to their youth (they started with 14 years), their relatable lyrics and their classic English punk sound. I would add that they sound spectacular live.
Their latest self-titled album is a true delight for the ears, a marvel to listen to repeatedly.
Live, the band did not miss the opportunity to play songs such as “Pubwatch” and “Falling Bridges” from the first album “Break the Routine”; “Graveyard Island”, “Tired of it” and “Murder Town” from the album “Graveyard Island”; and of course, songs from the latest album, published in 2023, “Celine”, “Brassic” and “Under the Streetlight”, the song with which they ended the fantastic evening, taking everyone’s breath away driving the audience crazy.
A very special moment for me was when they played “Only Ones I Trust”, a song discarded from the Graveyard Island album, as it took me back to my childhood when Rancid played all the time in my room.
I assure you that they are a blast, in Madrid they also raised hell, as expected, just like they will do in the Basque Country.
I’m already counting the days until I see them again and I hope it doesn’t take another 5 years for them to return. In Barcelona you will always be welcome, we are waiting for you here with open arms.
